Want to convert Amazon books for your Nook?

Click to Go to Amazon
My book, LOUDER THAN WORDS, is exclusive to Amazon. So, how can Nook readers also enjoy my book without resorting to illegal piracy?

Easy! I'll tell you how.

My instructions work for my book and other non-DRM books

1.  First, if you haven't already, download the FREE Kindle reading application program to your PC. There's a MAC version too.

2.  Register your Amazon email account to the application once installed.

3.  Locate (and memorize or jot down) where your Kindle files are saved on your computer. Open Preferences and locate the file folder path your documents follow when downloaded.

4.  "Purchase" your selected Amazon book and have it delivered to your Kindle application by indicating on the selector.

5.  Download the FREE program called Calibre. (A donation is strongly encouraged. It's fantastic software you will not regret downloading)

6.  Open Calibre and click the ADD BOOKS button at the top.

Navigate to the path you determined in the step 3 above and find the AZW type file you just purchased/downloaded (you may have to reference the Amazon book's ASIN number to ensure you select the correct book file):

7.  Select the imported AZW file and click the CONVERT BOOKS button at the top. On the left, you should see your input format file type already selected as "AZW". On the right, you should select output format  "EPUB"

8.  Click CONVERT. Your file is ready when the little wheel icon in the lower right corner stops spinning.

9.  Now you only need to drag and drop the file from your Calibre library to your Nook!

While this may sound a little complicated at first--especially if you have add the Kindle reading app and the Calibre app the first time--once you get used to using Calibre and navigating between the Kindle book file folder and the Calibre book file folder, you'll love it! You can also use Calibre for converting other file types as well as organizing your book library.

Now...have you purchased Louder Than Words yet??

#FreebieFriday LOUDER THAN WORDS is free on Amazon Jan 23rd!

Ready for an Irish #bookboyfriend named Ronan? Learning To Swim by @AnnieCosby

Learning to Swim (Hearts Out of Water #1)
Release Date: 03/01/14

Summary from Goodreads:
"... a darkly romantic beginning to what promises to be an unusual contemporary YA fantasy series."

- Serena Chase,
USA Today

When Cora’s mother whisks the family away for the summer, Cora must decide between forging her future in the glimmering world of second homes where her parents belong, or getting lost in the bewitching world of the locals and the mystery surrounding a lonely old woman who claims to be a selkie creature—and who probably needs Cora more than anyone else.

Through the fantastical tales and anguished stories of the batty Mrs. O’Leary, as well as the company of a particularly gorgeous local boy called Ronan, Cora finds an escape from the reality of planning her life after high school. But will it come at the cost of alienating Cora’s mother, who struggles with her own tragic memories?

As the summer wanes, it becomes apparent that Ronan just may hold the answer to Mrs. O’Leary’s tragic past—and Cora’s future.

Learning to Swim is FREE on Amazon from Dec. 8-12,

and the sequel, Learning to Live, is out now!

Excerpt:

“Do you know of Shoney, dearie?”

I shook my head. “What’s that?”

“They say he was a spirit that dwelled in the waters near Scotland. Seonaidh, my Seamus would call him. Seamus had a great love of ale; it was the Celt in him. Do you know, people used to wade into the water and give an offering of ale to Shoney? It was meant to appease him and secure them a good harvest.”

I thought of drunken old Scottish men stumbling into the ocean and draining buckets of beer—draining just as much into their stomachs as the water. I didn’t say as much.

“But of course my Seamus liked to make a mockery of it. He was Irish, you know. He would go into the water with his ale and drink it all down—some might say that was a slight to Shoney.”

“I don’t think he’d mind,” I mumbled.

“Seamus liked to enjoy his ale, right here on this beach. You know, that is how we met. Me, swimming along minding my own business, and my Seamus roughhousing with ale and good friends.”

So she had met her husband when he was stark raving drunk. How quaint.

“I’d seen him before, of course. Every day, when I was swimming.” She looked at me out of the corner of her eye, possibly to see if I was listening. The parallels of the story were unsettling. Swimmers, spying, crushes, wanting to see the world? Who exactly had this old woman been talking to? Shit—did Ronan know more than he was letting on? Or was this woman just clairvoyant?

“But it took me a long time to make the change. To tell my mother. So when I came to the beach and met him, there he was with his ale. He was very taken with me. We moved into this little house and had a grand life altogether. Of course, as nature will do—it stifles things. Feelings. I started to yearn for a return to the water, but my Seamus kept me here.”

Cybils award nomination and Thank yous and NaNoWriMo

First I need to hand out some "THANK YOUs" to everyone who lent a helping hand on Louder Than Words' release day blitz, participated in the blog tour, especially the hosts, tweeted or Facebooked about the release, and the biggest one of all--purchased, read and/or reviewed my book.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

If you enjoyed it, I hope you'll tell a friend and/or leave a review if you haven't already.  :)

Now, another huge THANK YOU to Slavandria (aka J Keller Ford), who was kind enough to nominate Louder Than Words for a Cybils Award in the Young Adult Fiction category.
Click to see nominees in Young Adult Fiction category

It's a huge list of fantastic books to be nominated beside and very humbling, but thrilling at the same time. The short list will be announced around January 1, 2015 and finalists on Valentine's Day.

Last, I'm working on Lizzy's story, but it got somewhat tangled up in my head, plot-wise, and is taking a little longer than I'd hoped. However, I'm working diligently on it for NaNoWriMo, which I'm happy to say I'm on track, so far, to win for the sixth consecutive year!
Cheers!

Finding Her Way Back by Heather Van Fleet has found its way to booksellers TODAY!

Finding Her Way Back
Release Date: 10/07/14
Swoon Romance

Summary from Goodreads:
Meet Callie. She’s nineteen, quirky, and fears commitments. She also has a love/hate relationship with her tennis shoes.

Nine months of college, done and gone, and all Callie has to show for it is her freshman thirty. But alas, no worries, life has other crap plans for her now. Plans that include a set of nuptials from hell for her older, she–devil sister Anna. Struggling to rid her chubby–sexy vibe, Callie is put on a strict Anna regimen of ‘do this do that’ while attempting to avoid the unavoidable. The unavoidable being Ky Hampton: her once skinny–skater–boy turned sex–god, ex best friend from across the street.

Kylan feels as though he is a waste. A mechanic, country music singer with not a lyrics to his name. A boy with a proverbial skateboard still strung around his neck from high school. He’s lost, and he’d be the first to admit it. But the moment he spots Calla Lily––with a cemented penis in hand––the more he realizes that she’s exactly the muse he’s been missing.

But when the going gets tough, and the secrets of her past grow thicker, Callie has to figure out if her tennis shoes will be her escape this time around in life, or her demise instead.

Available from:

Excerpt: (Ky’s POV)

He’d instilled in himself a self–imposed, undying oath to be the man she deserved, but also he’d continually promised Brent that he was going to do everything in his power to make his little sister happy again. His best friend might have been a little pissed knowing how many ways he wanted to make her happy and all, but Brent also had known since they were fifteen how in love with Calla Lily Ky had been. Called him out on it several times actually.

Also warned him to keep his “dirty–skater–hands” to himself.

Good thing he gave up the skateboarding almost a year ago.

“Depends on what you mean by starting over, Cal.”

Running her finger over the pulse beating in his neck, she whispered shyly up at him. “Ask me out on a date.” She shrugged, sucking that bottom lip harder into her mouth. “Hold my hand. And then maybe on date five…” She shrugged again, her fingers tracing down his chest, and around his belly button. A throaty groan escaped his mouth, and the little naughty thing smiled at him. “I’ll let you touch me.”

I’ll let you touch me …

Fuck … Hell, she was the devil’s angel, dammit! And he wanted to do way more than just touch her!

Trailing his hand along the dip of her t–shirt again, he matched her all too seductive cues. He made sure to let his pinky finger run along the nipple that was pressing tight against the surface of her shirt.

He’d do whatever the fuck she wanted to do…starting tomorrow.

Tonight, he would do things his way.
